Crystal Pyramid Productions’ broadcast video crew shot a day in the life of Olympian and  “Dancing With the Stars” alumnus, Apolo Anton Ohno, whom CW Now challenged to “dance on the water” on one of Bob Montgomery’s jet-powered surf boards.  Seen in the shot are Sound Technician, Patty Mooney, Director of Photography and Videographer, Mark Schulze, Apolo Ono and Bob Montgomery in his silver helmet.

George Foreman Knock Out

George Foreman Knock Out

George Foreman the famous heavyweight champion, came to a San Diego grocery store one sunny September day in 2005. He was there to publicize his Knock Out cleaning products and sign autographs for a long stream of excited fans.

Nina Hartley

Nina Hartley

How did a San Diego video production crew meet the magical Nina Hartley? Back in the mid-1980’s, we used to travel to Las Vegas to attend the VSDA (Video Software Dealer Association) shows, to pedal our wares.  We had produced a handful of special-interest videos including some that were the first of their genre.

Mario Lopez

Mario Lopez

Many people don’t realize or remember that before he was the face of Extra, Mario Lopez was once Animal Planet’s Pet Star Search “ringleader.” He and his “dog and pony show” used to come to San Diego every Spring in search of the world’s funniest, most talented and videogenic animals.

A Tim Burton Elevator Tale

A Tim Burton Elevator Tale

The characters from the movies that Tim Burton has created come alive during every Comic Con. Our company, Crystal Pyramid Productions, has covered the San Diego Comic Con for more than two decades, sending out broadcast video production crews to collect footage for clients including Nickelodeon, 20th Century Fox and Extra. In 2009, due to the Incredible Shrinking Economy, Mark and I freelanced, capturing stock footage of the costumed attendees and behind-the-scenes with some of the celebrities for our own stock footage library, called New & Unique Videos.

Jerry Lewis, Great Guy, Sweet Man

Jerry Lewis, Great Guy, Sweet Man

Jerry Lewis was born on March 16, 1926.  He passed away on August 20th at 91 years old. Director of Photography Mark Schulze and I had a chance to meet him several years ago on his boat. At that time, we videotaped a short statement from Jerry that would be played at the award ceremony for his good friend, Norm Crosby.  Norm was born a year and a half later than Jerry Lewis, in September of 1927 and is known as the Master of Malaprop.
