The Other Guys is a raging good movie.  Just before its release in 2010, there was a red-carpet press op at the San Diego Comic Con, where we had a chance to interview Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg for Extra.

Not since meeting Vince Vaughn and Jewel at a Super Bowl red carpet appearance several years ago, had this sound technician been impressed by a super star. Why? When Mark Wahlberg came sauntering over to our crew, he looked at me and said, “How are you doing today?”

His acknowledgement of me, an audio gal hidden behind a mixer and beneath a set of earphones, made my day. It’s really rare when a celebrity offers any sort of recognition to the lowly video production crew, although it’s the camera op who makes them look good, and the sound tech that makes them sound good.

The other thing I wanted to add was how much cuter Mark Wahlberg is in person.

Will Ferrell gave a nice interview. That funny guy always seems to be on “funny” mode, so that was a pleasurable moment of the day.

Eva Mendes looked gorgeous in a tight-fitting, bosom-revealing gold lame’ dress, but she didn’t have much to say other than how much she enjoyed working with Will and Mark. I remembered her from the time I had produced a segment for Extra at a Comic Con back when she was starring as Nicolas Cage’s girlfriend in “Ghostrider.” She didn’t have much to say back then, either.
