Our DP is company founder, Mark Schulze, who is considered the “grandfather of Extreme Sports Videos;” he invented the first mountain-bike helmet-cam rig to collect POV shots in the world’s first instructional mountain biking video, “The Great Mountain Biking Video” in 1987. This educational-video pioneer is still going strong as he directs and produces award-winning video for corporate clients in Southern California and surrounding areas.
Schulze’s partner, Patty Mooney (“Grandmother of Extreme Sports Videos”) is Writer, Producer, Editor, Sound Technician and Teleprompter Operator who has also won multiple awards for her work in video production.

Blossom of Hope is the video produced for AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical company that is manufacturing drugs to fight Lupus. The Crystal Pyramid Productions crew collected video clips and interviews from this epic day during which the world’s largest bouquet of purple tulips (representing the disease of Lupus) was constructed and used as a backdrop for portraits. Quite an amazing day.
We created a video production for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), about EurekAlert!, an online website for scientific journalists. This program was also subtitled and voiced-over in several different languages including Spanish, German, French and Chinese.
The Crystal Pyramid Productions crew produced, shot and edited this video for the Mission Trails Interpretive Center about the dangers of embers. Did you know embers can fly for six miles for up to an hour, fly into your attic and burn your house down? This happened to 75 homes during “The Trails fire here in San DIego several years ago. For Alfa Scientific Designs, a local biotechnology firm, Crystal Pyramid Productions shot, produced and edited a product video to showcase its premiere products. Alfa has this video on its website and uses it at tradeshows.
The Crystal Pyramid Productions crew spent several days videotaping interviews and B-roll for this show about the Family Health Center of San Diego which has many locations throughout the County. Featuring Fran Butler-Cohen, the FHC CEO. As FHC is a non-profit serving our community, we provided a substantial discount on our services as our way of “Paying it Forward”.
Crystal Pyramid Productions shot footage of the San Diego Randstad 55th anniversary party and uploaded clips throughout the festivities to Amsterdam where the company is based. An editor compiled these clips on the spot into this global party video. Amazing! You would not have been able to do this even ten years ago, but technology has exponentially advanced so that we now feel we are in the same ballroom with partiers in Milan, Warsaw, Sydney and Buenos Aires!

San Diego Fire & Rescue Department hired us to create a video about brush management, and ways to protect your home from wildfire with guidelines on how far from the home you should clear brush, and how much space there should be between trees and bushes. Starring Loren Nancarrow, San Diego weather man.

“The Birth of the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel” includes interviews with the architect, construction foreman and property developer, along with timelapse of the hotel going up, and a tour of the property.
We covered the rooftop celebration of the “Topping Off” of the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel which sits on arguably the most valuable property in San Diego, overlooking the Gaslamp Quarter sign, and tucked between Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center. You’ll see Mayor Jerry Sanders destroy a guitar.

We interviewed the Chula Vista Little League Coaches Oscar Castro and Ric Ramirez for the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Gala Awards, using green screen, including B-Roll gathered at the Little League World Championship game. The coaches earned the Regional Unity Award for bringing the San Diego community together over the team’s stellar win in 2009 as Little League Champions of the World.
The Kieran Label Corporation of El Cajon, California, wanted to improve their website with the use of a video that expounded on their products and services. This is a short and sweet presentation which includes the talents of CEO Denis Vanier and his son, Andre Vanier, who is the voice over.
San Diego Superior Court’s Family Services selected us to create a video for families to watch when they come into the court and file divorce papers. The video explains the process they are about to embark upon, and what they can expect to experience. We produced both the English and Spanish versions of this video.
A promotional video for American Military University, an online school, using testimonials from various students who have studied at AMU.
Adventures at the Landfill – Allied Waste Services (now known as Republic Services) tapped us to make them a video about landfill operations. We used timelapse video from a camera that was set up in a spot overlooking the landfill as a liner was laid out, and prepared for waste disposal. This video won a Pegasus Award and an Aurora Award, and also won the waste management firm a grant to expand landfill operations in San Diego.
This video was produced for STI, highlighting their medical imaging equipment for potential investors and clients.
The VA Summer Sports Clinic Video features interviews of wounded warriors, many of whom were enjoying San Diego for the first time, and most of whom were learning about sports that were new to them. After showing the video at the closing ceremony of the Sports Clinic, the Public Affairs Director told us: Video is fantastic! Much better than past years and the Veterans loved it! “What on Earth is a Super Computer?” This video takes you on a little tour to the Super Computer Center at UCSD (University of California in San Diego) where you’ll learn about how these computers create and study earthquake simulations. It’s riveting! Director of Photography on this video production was the multiple-award-winning Mark Schulze, and it was edited by Patty Mooney.
The Possibilities Group called on us to create a Testimonials Video for their website. This is a great idea for any small business that wants to optimize their SEO and tap the power of testimonials. We encourage our clients to gather as many of their clients together either at our studio or their business office rather than sending a crew out to several locations, as an efficient way to collect testimonials.
Crystal Pyramid Productions produced this timelapse of the world’s largest tulip bouquet, featuring 13,000 purple tulips flown in from Holland, which would be used the following day as a backdrop for AstraZeneca’s Walk to Fight Lupus at Liberty Station.
This timelapse video was shot in Escondido at the Performance Arts Center when Rifftrax (the stars of MST3K and Weird Al Yankovic) came to town to perform a Christmas Show. You’ll see the production crew set up the stage with an I-MAG screen.
This is a “Happy Face Video” aka Corporate Candids that we produced for an international pharmaceutical company. When a convention comes to town, it’s a great idea to capture all the action on video (sometimes companies hire multiple videographers who videotape different venues, interviews, testimonials, etc.) and then play the full video at the final dinner or breakfast on IMAG.
