Some of Our Favorite Celebrity Video Interviews

Robert Young (aka “Marcus Welby, MD”) 1983

People often ask us, What were some of your favorite video interviews?  We have videotaped hundreds of video interviews.  Here are a few of our favorites.

Marcus Welby MD

Our very first broadcast video shoot was in 1983.  The celebrity involved happened to be the man who played Dr. Marcus Welby, MD. Indeed, it was Robert Young himself. I remember he was warm and kind like his television character. And yet there was a harder edge there. He was first and foremost a business man. And as others who reach the status of “elder” he didn’t have patience for more than one or two takes when he delivered his lines.  Consequently, s the still photographer taking production shots, I tried to stay out of his way and be the invisible “fly on the wall.”  I felt fortunate to get one or two shots of him in action.  Once the interview had wrapped, I was a bit too shy (unlike now) to ask him to pose with me for a photo.

Forbidden Planet Cast

Back a few decades ago, those who were alive will remember the movie made in 1956 that started the sci-fi ball rolling: “Forbidden Planet.” These members of the original cast – Warren Stevens, Richard Anderson and Earl Holliman, came to the San Diego Comic Con in 2006 where I had the chance to interview them for Extra. I really loved producing this interview, as all I had to do was toss out a question. And the three of these gentlemen would race with it, bantering amongst themselves and creating a very playful atmosphere. The chemistry was excellent! I only wish I had a few more hours in their company.

Lord of the Rings

“The Lord of the Rings” first came out in 2001, and 2002, those cute actors, Billy Boyd, Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan all descended upon the San Diego Comic Con. Lucky for me! I played sound technician on that one. The guys were so gracious to pose with Mark and me afterward. I don’t know if they are plagued with it yet, but they showed not an ounce of world-weariness then. They were a few blokes who were friends with each other, and that was that.

The Reaping – Some Intriguing Celebrity Video Interviews

In 2007, “The Reaping,” a film directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring Hilary Swank, came out, and so did Hilary, Stephen, and a young actress by the name of Annasophia Robb. She talked about all the locusts that arise and obliterate everything in a few scenes.

Accepted

accepted celebrity video interviews

We had a very casual outdoor interview with the cast of “Accepted.” I interviewed Lewis Black, Maria Thayer, Adam Herschman and Blake Lively, who went on to become a Gossip Girl mainstay. They were very funny and charming. They loved it when I asked them if there was going to be a reprise of “Approved.” Indeed, they all had a good chuckle and reminded me that the name of the movie was “Accepted.” Er, right.

In conclusion, remember celebrities are human beings just like the rest of us.
